Thomas V. Alfredson, PhD

Tom Alfredson is managing director and co-founder of Foxvale Pharmaceutics LLC. Dr. Alfredson received his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, MS in Chemistry from the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, and PhD degree in Biophysical and Analytical Chemistry from the University of California, Davis. He was also a lecturer for Pharmaceutical Development courses at the University of California- Santa Cruz at the Silicon Valley campus.

Dr. Alfredson’s pharmaceutical career began at Syntex Pharmaceutical Corporation in 1991 in Palo Alto where he worked in both the Institutes of Organic Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry. He subsequently worked at Roche Bioscience and Roche Palo Alto as Senior Director of Pharmaceutics, encompassing preformulation, formulation, analytical development, QC and manufacturing groups. He was also project leader for respiratory and virology programs at Roche Palo Alto before transferring to Roche Nutley where he held positions of Senior Director in the Pharmaceutical and Analytical Development group and Global Technical Leader for virology programs. Tom joined Gilead Sciences in 2011 as Director of Analytical Development and later as Principal Scientist in Preclinical R&D. He held positions as Pharmaceutical Development and Manufacturing lead for the respiratory portfolio of programs and subsequently set up a preclinical R&D group working at the interface of research and development with a focus on nonclinical and medicinal chemistry analytical support. Tom has facilitated filing of CMC and other sections of global filings (US, Canada, EU, China, Japan, Asia, Australia) for over fifty IND/CTA/IMPDs and thirteen NDA/MAAs for new molecular entities in oncology, inflammation, virology, respiratory and CNS indications.

After a brief stint at Aquinox Pharmaceuticals, Inc., as Director of Pharmaceutical Development, Tom joined Alexza Pharmaceuticals, Inc., in 2018 in Mountain View, Ca. as Executive Director of Pharmaceutical R&D. He was responsible for product R&D, clinical trial material manufacturing, analytical, bioanalytical and nonclinical development, and clinical and regulatory operations for combination drug-device inhalation products for systemic delivery for CNS indications. Tom has co-authored more than fifty book chapters and papers in peer-reviewed journals. He holds multiple patents in drug delivery and chemistry and received several awards including the Roche Olympiad award for innovation, speed and growth for development of prodrug projects. He is currently registered with the State of California Board of Pharmacy as Designated Representative for wholesale operations and distribution of drugs and devices.

His current research interests include analytical and pharmaceutical development of new medicines, prodrug design, and combination drug and drug-device products.

Theresa M. Alfredson, BSN, MSN

Terri Alfredson is Chief Operating Officer and Co-founder of Foxvale Pharmaceutics LLC. Terri received her BS in Nursing from the University of Illinois, Chicago, as a member of Sigma Theta Tau – National Honor Society of Nursing and MSN from Rush University, Chicago, with a focus on chronic illness. After several years of clinical practice, she joined the University of Illinois College of Nursing in Chicago as an instructor and subsequently accepted a position at the University of San Francisco in California in the Nursing Sciences department.

After clinical roles at the University of California Hospitals in both San Francisco and Davis, in 1991 Terri joined Stanford Hospital and Clinics where she held various positions including Director of Staff Development for the Skilled Nursing Facility at Stanford Health Services. She was later the Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Clinic manager responsible for daily operations. In 2007, Terri transitioned to a role as Clinical Informatics Educator responsible for curriculum development and delivery for clinicians using EpicCare Ambulatory electronic medical records. Terri received numerous awards over her distinguished healthcare career including excellence in Nursing awards and multiple special awards for outstanding contributions and achievements.
